Edinson Cavani will sign a new one-year extension to remain with Manchester United until next summer, according to Uruguayan journalist Sebas Giovanelli.
The 34-year-old's father recently admitted that his son was 'not comfortable' in Manchester and looking to return to South America later this year.
However, Man United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said on Wednesday that he was still hopeful of convincing the former Paris Saint-Germain forward to extend his stay at Old Trafford.
As it stands, Cavani's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, but there is an option to activate an additional 12 months until the summer of 2022.
According to Giovanelli, despite firm interest from Boca Juniors, the experienced striker is set to pen an extension with the 20-time English champions.
The South American has scored seven times and registered two assists in 25 appearances for Man United since joining the club on a free transfer following the expiration of his PSG deal.
