Chelsea, Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain have reportedly accelerated to the front of the race to sign Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.
The 22-year-old has netted 34 goals in all competitions for the Portuguese outfit this season, by far his most productive senior campaign in front of goal.
Current Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku's future at Stamford Bridge remains unclear, meaning that Thomas Tuchel is likely to be in the market for more attacking reinforcements this summer.
According to The Athletic, the Blues are alongside Man United and PSG in showing interest in Nunez, who could cost a figure in the region of £75m, while still under a long-term contract with Benfica which is dated to 2025.
The report suggests that Benfica are willing to sell the Uruguay international, but would wish for a deal be completed sooner rather than later, to give them time to find a replacement.
Nunez arrived at Benfica in 2020, and has gone on to score 48 goals and provide 16 assists in 85 appearances for the club.
