Chelsea could reportedly battle Manchester United for the signature of Barcelona centre-back Ronald Araujo during this summer's transfer window.

The Uruguay international has been in impressive form for his Catalan club this season, making 25 appearances in all competitions, and Man United are said to be keen to sign him this summer.

A recent report claimed that the 20-time English champions had offered the centre-back a contract worth £8.4m a year to move to Old Trafford ahead of next season.

However, according to Goal, Chelsea are also in the race for the 22-year-old, with the Blues viewing him as a 'serious transfer target' this summer.

Araujo has entered the final 18 months of his contract at Camp Nou, and Barcelona are said to be finding it difficult to agree an extension with the defender.

The South American has scored five goals and registered one assist in 64 appearances for his La Liga club since making the move from Boston River in 2018.
