Manchester City are reportedly confident of beating Manchester United to the signature of Sporting Lisbon attacker Bruno Fernandes in this summer's transfer window.
Fernandes has scored 28 times and contributed 15 assists in 48 appearances for Sporting this season.
United have been strongly linked with a move for the 24-year-old, who has hinted that he is ready to join a Premier League club at the end of the 2018-19 campaign.
However, according to Correio da Manha, City have now opened negotiations with Sporting and are confident of landing the Portugal international ahead of their bitter rivals.
Sporting are reportedly attempting to raise Fernandes's release clause from £86.5m to £129.8m ahead of a potential sale.
