As the January window enters its latter stages, the transfer rumours continue to gather pace as Premier League clubs attempt to boost their squads for the second part of the season.
Here, Sports Mole takes a closer look at each club's targets with nine days remaining.
Arsenal
The long-running Theo Walcott saga has finally been completed with the England international committing his future to the Gunners. It is understood that the club broke their wage structure to keep the former Southampton attacker at the Emirates, but there is still money available for new signings. A possible move for Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has been mooted, along with West Ham United's Mohamed Diame.
Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes has been linked with a surprise move to the Gunners, with the Spaniard revealing that he will depart the Catalan outfit when his contract expires. Liverpool's Jose Reina, who has also been linked with Barcelona, remains a target, but it appears that Arsene Wenger will move for a defender before the end of the window.
Aston Villa
It is no secret that Paul Lambert wishes to add experience to his young squad, but the return of skipper Ron Vlaar has at least steadied the defence. A move for Manchester City's Joleon Lescott appears to be dead in the water, but Lambert could attempt to hijack Newcastle United's move for Nancy's Massadio Haidara. Meanwhile, former Sunderland stopper Craig Gordon has been linked with a move.
Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko is another name on the reported wanted list, but Villa face competition from a number of European clubs. A more realistic signing appears to be Dnipro midfielder Derek Boateng, who has also been strongly linked with Fulham. Meanwhile, Newcastle United's Dan Gosling could also arrive on loan to provide competition in midfield.
Chelsea
The big names continue to be linked with Stamford Bridge with Atletico Madrid striker Radamel Falcao and Everton midfielder Marouane Fellaini mooted as possible targets. A surprise move for Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric is not entirely out of the question, but Rafa Benitez is still interested in Malaga's Isco and Shakhtar Donetsk's much-coveted midfielder Willian.
A bid for Bayer Leverkusen's Andre Schurrle could also surface in order to provide competition for Demba Ba and Fernando Torres in attack, but a move for Athletic Bilbao striker Fernando Llorente appears to be out of the question with the Spaniard reportedly heading for Juventus. Ashley Cole has agreed terms on a new deal, but Frank Lampard is still expected to leave. Meanwhile, Barcelona are reportedly circling goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois, who is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid.
Everton
Groningen defender Virgil van Dijk is the latest name to be linked with Goodison Park, but it is understood that no movement has been made for the 21-year-old, who is also interesting a number of European clubs. A return for Manchester City's Joleon Lescott appears to be out of the question, but Owen Hargreaves could yet arrive on a free should he prove his fitness from now until the end of January.
Barnsley's John Stones also remains a target along with Manchester City's Scott Sinclair, but according to various reports, David Moyes is prepared to put all his efforts into signing Birmingham City stopper Jack Butland as a long-term replacement for Tim Howard. A marquee signing in the shape of Benfica's Oscar Cardozo, however, is unlikely to transpire.
Fulham
There has been no shortage of players linked with Craven Cottage in recent weeks. Blackpool's Ludovic Sylvestre is the latest surprise name to be linked with Martin Jol's side, but a more realistic signing could arrive in the shape of Vasilis Torosidis, who has revealed that he wants to depart Olympiacos. Meanwhile, a move for Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock could yet transpire if a figure can be agreed between the two clubs.
There does appear to be strong interest in Roma goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg, with a bid for the experienced stopper a serious possibility before the end of the window. However, a move for Dnipro's Derek Boateng does appear to have hit a snag with Aston Villa also interested in the powerful midfielder. FC Nordsjaelland defender Jores Okore remains a firm target, but the 20-year-old has reportedly attracted interest from a host of European clubs.
Liverpool
Despite the arrival of Daniel Sturridge this month, it is understood that boss Brendan Rodgers is still keen to acquire a number of new players. A move for Inter Milan midfielder Philippe Coutinho appears to have gathered real pace this week with the club missing out on Dutchman Wesley Sneijder, who is close to signing for Galatasaray. Blackpool's Tom Ince could also arrive, but thus far no agreement has been made with the Championship club.
A surprise move for Aston Villa striker Darren Bent is not entirely out of the question, while Celtic's Gary Hooper could also be seen as a viable option if the price is right. Wigan Athletic's Franco di Santo, who Rodgers worked with at Chelsea, has also been mentioned. However, Genoa have thus far refused to play ball over Andreas Granqvist.
Manchester City
It has been a quiet month for Manchester City on the transfer front, with the majority of the focus being placed on Mario Balotelli. One moment the Italian appears destined to join AC Milan, but thus far no movement has been made and it is unlikely that the striker will leave this month. Should he depart, however, a move for Napoli's Edison Cavani could transpire, although the forward would cost in the region of £40m.
City are also reportedly rivalling Chelsea for the signature of Malaga midfielder Isco, who has been one of the standout players in Spain this season, while a move for Tottenham Hotspur's Luka Modric is not entirely out of the question with the Croatian understood to be keen on a return to England. That said, moves for Borussia Dortmund defender Mats Hummels and Derby County midfielder Will Hughes appear unlikely.
Manchester United
A move for Crystal Palace attacker Wilfried Zaha appears no closer to being completed with both teams failing to agree on a figure for the Englishman. Should a transfer transpire, then it is likely that the youngster will remain on loan at the Championship club for the remainder of the season. PSV Eindhoven's Kevin Strootman has long been linked with Old Trafford, but it is unlikely that anything will progress on that front until the summer.
Porto's James Rodriguez and Borussia Dortmund's Robert Lewandowski have also both been linked with moves to United, but Queens Park Rangers playmaker Adel Taarabt, who has impressed in recent weeks, appears more of a viable option. Everton's Leighton Baines remains a target in defence, while a bid for Chelsea's Frank Lampard is still very much in the offing.
Newcastle United
Newcastle were dealt a massive blow last week when Loic Remy decided to join Queens Park Rangers despite agreeing terms with the Magpies. The loss of Demba Ba has hit the club hard and therefore a striker appears an absolute necessity if Alan Pardew's side are to remain in the Premier League. Moves for Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko and Montpellier defender Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa have gathered pace, with the latter understood to be undergoing a medical.
Bordeaux's Yoan Gouffran has also been mooted as possible arrival to provide competition in midfield, while West Ham United's James Tomkins is another name that is continually linked with a move to St James' Park. Should Newcastle be frustrated in their attempts to sign the above, then Celtic's Gary Hooper and Swansea City's Danny Graham could be made top targets.
Norwich City
Nottingham Forest goalkeeper Lee Camp appears to be on the verge of signing for the club with the experienced stopper understood to be undergoing a medical this week. It is not the acquisition that the club's supporters hoped for, but it is reported that there is money to spend should Chris Hughton wish to invest. A striker has been made a priority, with moves for Swansea City's Danny Graham and Stoke City's Cameron Jerome in the offing.
Hamburg's Marcus Berg is another name that has been linked with Carrow Road, but it appears that Hughton could once more be forced into the lower leagues with Brighton & Hove Albion duo Liam Bridcutt and Craig Mackail-Smith reported targets. However, a move for Celtic's Gary Hooper appears to be out of the question with a number of clubs interested in the forward.
Queens Park Rangers
Queens Park Rangers continue to be linked with new signings with boss Harry Redknapp expected to move for a number of players before the end of the January window. He has reportedly joined the race for Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko, but faces competition from a number of clubs. However, the proposed signing of Yann M'Vila from Rennes does appear to have broken down with a number of Russian clubs making big-money bids for the Frenchman.
Chelsea's Florent Malouda and Swansea City's Danny Graham have joined long-term target West Bromwich Albion's Peter Odemwingie on the reported wanted list, but a move for Porto defender Rolando appears to have hit a snag with the Portuguese club refusing to sell. Tottenham Hotspur's Michael Dawson remains a top target, but a more realistic signing could arrive in the shape of West Bromwich Albion defender Jonas Olsson.
Reading
With money to spend in the transfer window, it would not be a surprise to see Reading move for a number of players in the latter stages of this month. They have reportedly joined the race for Swansea City striker Danny Graham, while Arsenal midfielder Andrey Arshavin has long been linked with a move to the Royals. A move for Lokomotiv Moscow striker Roman Pavlyuchenko has also been mooted, along with West Ham United's Carlton Cole.
The Royals have also emerged as the favourites to sign Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, according to various reports, but thus far no movement has been made for the exciting Spaniard. A defender also remains a priority for Brian McDermott with Birmingham City's Curtis Davies and Maccabi Tel Aviv's Steve Gohouri two names that have strongly been linked with the club over the past week.
Southampton
Much of Southampton's transfer activity has been placed on hold with the surprise sacking of Nigel Adkins. Former Espanyol boss Mauricio Pochettino has taken charge of the newly-promoted club and it is understood that he has been given funds to strengthen in the latter stages of the month. The signing of Vegard Forren from Molde has provided competition in midfield, but it remains to be seen whether the proposed move for Blackburn Rovers duo Paul Robinson and Scott Dann remains a priority.
It is likely that Pochettino could move into the Spanish market, with a reported £8m move for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas on the radar, however, the club will be wary of being caught in a bidding war with fellow Premier League outfit Reading. A move for Espanyol midfielder Joan Verdu also appears to have gathered pace, along with Anderlecht's Lucas Biglia.
Stoke City
Highly-rated American midfielder Brek Shea, who is currently with FC Dallas, has arrived at the club on trial, where he will spend a week in a bid to gain a contract with the Potters. A striker has also been made a priority with Kenwyne Jones continually linked with a move away and Peter Crouch struggling to produce the form he showed in the previous campaign. Two names that have strongly been linked with the club are Southampton's Rickie Lambert and Lazio's Mauro Zarate.
A loan move for Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey has also been mooted, while Tony Pulis has also been linked with a surprise bid for Manchester United defender Alexander Buttner, although it is unlikely that Sir Alex Ferguson will allow the defender to leave. Celtic's Gary Hooper is another name on the list, but Pulis faces competition from a host of Premier League clubs.
Sunderland
Martin O'Neill has been strongly linked with a move for Swansea City striker Danny Graham in the January window. It is understood that the player is keen to return to the north of England and therefore if a figure can be agreed between the two clubs, then the transfer appears likely. Should talks break down, however, then O'Neill could reportedly move for Manchester City striker John Guidetti on loan.
A move for New York Red Bulls midfielder Tim Cahill appears to have broken down, but the Black Cats are one of a number of clubs reportedly interested in signing Toulouse midfielder Moussa Sissoko, who is expected to leave France this month. Meanwhile, Sunderland could also rival Stoke City for the loan signing of Lazio striker Mauro Zarate.
Swansea City
Swansea City boss Michael Laudrup has reportedly made securing the permanent signing of Jonathan de Guzman from Villarreal his main priority this month. The midfielder has been in sensational form this season, but it is not yet clear whether the Spanish outfit are prepared to sell. A move for Stoke City's Kenwyne Jones also appears to be close, but the Welsh club have not entirely dropped out of the race for Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas.
Blackpool's Matt Phillips is the latest surprise name to be linked with the Premier League side, along with Osasuna's Roland Lamah, who is highly regarded in La Liga. Real Betis midfielder Jose Canas, who appeared to wave goodbye to supporters in his side's 1-1 draw with Athletic Bilbao on Monday, is another player that could arrive from Spain.
Tottenham Hotspur
Tottenham Hotspur boss Andre Villas-Boas remains frustrated in his attempts to sign Schalke 04 midfielder Lewis Holtby this month, although the playmaker is expected to arrive at the end of the season. A move for Rennes midfielder Yann M'Vila appears to have hit a snag with a number of clubs interested in signing the Frenchman, while the same could be said for Shakhtar Donetsk's highly-coveted midfielder Willian, who is attracting interest from a number of European clubs.
A more realistic target appears to be Sevilla striker Alvaro Negredo with the Spanish outfit keen to sell in order to ease some of their financial troubles. Should a move for the forward break down, then Hamburg's Son Heung-Min could be made their top striking target with Internacional's Leandro Damiao currently out of reach.
West Bromwich Albion
It is no secret that Steve Clarke is keen to acquire new players this month in order to add numbers to his squad, but he has thus far been forced into holding off bids for his current squad. No major movement is expected unless Peter Odemwingie and Jonas Olsson both depart, but a loan move for Liverpool defender Sebastian Coates does appear to be a starter with the promise of first-team football offered to the centre-back.
Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku will spend the rest of the season on loan at the club, while a move for Plymouth Argyle's Luke Young could also be in the offing. The Baggies have also entered the race for FC Nordsjaelland defender Jores Okore, but with a number of European clubs interested in the youngster, Clarke could be forced to look elsewhere.
West Ham United
The Hammers have thus far spent most of their energy in a bid to keep Mohamed Diame out of the reach of a number of Premier League clubs. The powerful midfielder has been linked with moves to both Arsenal and Liverpool, but thus far no agreement has been made. Should Diame join Arsenal, then Sam Allardyce could insist that a loan move for Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey becomes part of the deal.
A move for former Sunderland goalkeeper Craig Gordon could also transpire, along with John Mensah, who is also currently unattached. However, the club's bid for Shanghai Shenhua striker Nicolas Anelka does appear to have hit a snag with personal terms a major stumbling block. David Beckham remains the marquee target, but a move for the former England captain appears further away with each passing moment.
Wigan Athletic
It does appear that Roberto Martinez has made a defender his priority in the winter window with Liverpool's Sebastian Coates a loan target. Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Ronald Zubar has also been strongly linked with a move to the Latics, but a more realistic signing could arrive in the shape of Ferrie Bodde, who is currently without a club.
Lille's Salomon Kalou has also been linked with a move to the Premier League outfit, but it is understood that the Ivorian wishes to return to London should he leave the French outfit. Much of Martinez's business this winter could depend on whether he keeps James McCarthy and Franco di Santo, who have both been linked with a number of clubs. However, a loan move for Manchester United midfielder Nick Powell does appear to have gathered pace this week.
