Manchester United have received a boost in their rumoured pursuit of Nathaniel Clyne with the news that the Southampton defender has stalled on a new deal, according to reports.
Signing a right-back is believed to be one of Louis van Gaal's top priorities ahead of the summer transfer window, and Clyne's fine form has seen him repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent months.
According to The Mirror, there is an offer of a new contract on the table from the Saints, but the 23-year-old, who made his England debut in November, has not indicated whether he is willing to extend his stay.
That delay could force Southampton to listen to offers for Clyne in an attempt to avoid losing him on a free transfer in the summer of 2016.
United have also been linked with Porto defender Danilo and Tottenham Hotspur's Kyle Walker.
