Dorgu 'heading for Manchester': Will 20-year-old make Man United debut vs. Palace?

Patrick Dorgu could make his Manchester United debut against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, with the Denmark international's switch to Old Trafford from Lecce potentially being completed on Thursday.

The 20-year-old is allegedly preparing to fly to Manchester with his agents to complete a move, with Man United coming to an agreement with Lecce over a transfer fee.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, a verbal agreement has been reached over a deal worth €30m (£25.1m) plus €5m (£4.2m) in add-ons, while personal terms have already been agreed with the 20-time English champions.

Romano claims that the defender's medical has been booked in for Thursday, and providing that there are no complications, then there is a chance that Dorgu could be involved against Palace in the Premier League on Sunday.

The left-back has made 23 appearances for Lecce during the 2024-25 campaign, scoring three times and registering one assist, including the full 90 minutes of his side's 4-0 loss to Inter Milan on Sunday.

With no fitness concerns surrounding Dorgu due to the amount of football that he has played this season, there is every chance that he could be in the squad against Palace, but it would be a surprise to see the Dane in the starting side.

The left-sided wing-back spot has been problematic for Ruben Amorim since his arrival at Old Trafford, and it is understood that Dorgu was quickly identified as the leading target in that area of the field.

Dorgu's arrival could lead to Tyrell Malacia moving on, with Real Betis said to be interested in signing the Netherlands international on loan for the second half of the campaign.

Luke Shaw, though, is now back in training after recovering from his latest hamstring problem, so the Englishman could be available for selection from the middle of February.

Dorgu will arrive at Man United off the back of making 57 appearances for Lecce, scoring five times and registering two assists in the process, while he has been capped on four occasions by Denmark, scoring once. body check tags ::
