Benfica midfielder Enzo Perez has alleged that Manchester United are "interested" in his services.
Recent reports had suggested that the Argentine international was close to completing a switch to La Liga side Valencia.
However, the 28-year-old has claimed that Los Che will face competition for his signature from United, who have, according to Perez, opened up negotiations with their Portuguese counterparts.
"There are negotiations between other clubs and Benfica about me. I know that Valencia and Manchester United are interested. There are serious possibilities to leave after the World Cup," he told Argentine television station TyC Sports.
Perez, who is a member of the Argentina squad for this summer's World Cup in Brazil, joined Benfica from Estudiantes in 2011.
