Manchester United midfielder Christian Eriksen has reportedly attracted interest from Ajax.

The 32-year-old is beginning to have a waning influence on proceedings at the Theatre of Dreams, falling behind in the engine room pecking order for the Red Devils.

Eriksen has started only three Premier League matches for Erik ten Hag's troops this season, playing a combined total of 261 minutes across five contests.

It is clear that Man United are moving in a different direction in that position, with Manuel Ugarte and Kobbie Mainoo set to be the first-choice pairing for years to come.

Since joining the Red Devils from Brentford during the summer of 2022, Eriksen has made 80 competitive appearances for the club, scoring six goals.

Man United's Eriksen wanted by former club?

According to The Sun, Manchester United star Eriksen is heading towards an exit of the Theatre of Dreams at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.

The report claims that the Red Devils are yet to offer the 32-year-old an extension to his terms, with his current deal at the club expiring in the summer.

As a result, Eriksen is currently free from January onwards to enter discussions with foreign clubs over a switch ahead of the 2025-26 term.

It is understood that Eredivisie giants Ajax are interested in securing the services of the Denmark international, who played 162 times for the Dutch club earlier in his career.

The European powerhouses are reportedly preparing to offer Eriksen a three-year deal, so that the midfielder can finish his career where it all started on the professional stage.

Eriksen has plenty of suitors

As well as Dutch giants Ajax, Belgian Pro League outfit Anderlecht were also credited with an interest in Man United's Eriksen during the summer window.

There is also supposedly admirers of the Dane in both the Saudi Pro League and MLS, should the midfielder wish to snatch one final big contract.

However, it is believed that Eriksen's preference is to return to Amsterdam and Ajax, who are hoping to have a deal for the player wrapped up in January ahead of a summer switch.

Eriksen could be in action for Man United when they face off against Brentford at Old Trafford in the Premier League on October 19. body check tags ::
