Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand urges the Red Devils to move for Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale in this summer's transfer window.

Former Manchester United captain Rio Ferdinand has urged the Red Devils to move for Real Madrid attacker Gareth Bale in this summer's transfer window.

Bale's Madrid career looks to be over after the Welshman was replaced at the interval of Wednesday night's Champions League quarter-final second leg with Juventus.

Los Blancos booked their spot in the final four courtesy of a late Cristiano Ronaldo penalty, but it has been suggested that Bale will not be involved as a starter in the latter stages of the European competition.

The 28-year-old is reportedly keen to stay at the Bernabeu, but the Spanish giants are expected to sell this summer, and Ferdinand has urged United to reignite their long-standing interest.

"For his talent, 100% [I would want him]. If you get him at a decent price, but talent-wise there's not doubting this guy. But it's just getting him out on the pitch every week is the problem. He hasn't been able to do that," Ferdinand told BT Sport.

"He's a huge talent. He's had a bad season by all accounts from what they're saying, their fans are disgruntled and not happy about him. He's got 16 goals. In the Premier League, I'd love to see him here."

Bale has scored 14 times and provided eight assists in 32 appearances for Madrid this season.
