Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has claimed that he has not discussed a potential deal extension with veteran midfielder Paul Scholes.
The 37-year-old came out of retirement for a sensational return to the Red Devils midway through this season, which has sparked criticism from Manchester City's director of football Patrick Vieira.
Reports have claimed that Scholes is closing in on a new deal with the English champions, which would keep the former England international at Old Trafford for a further year.
Ferguson told a press conference: "We've not approached that subject at all."
Scholes's teammate Ryan Giggs made the decision to extend his stay with the North West side by penning a one-year deal during the season.
