Ander Herrera is reportedly edging closer to his proposed move to Manchester United from Athletic Bilbao after completing a medical on Monday.
The 24-year-old, who was linked to the former Premier League champions last summer, is believed to have cost the Red Devils in the region of £30m after agreeing to pay his release clause.
According to Spanish newspaper AS, Herrera will be confirmed as a United player on Friday on a contract running until 2019, before joining up with assistant boss Ryan Giggs to begin training at his new club on July 4.
It is believed that Bilbao are surprised that Herrera has opted to leave the club after they finished fourth in La Liga last season.
If the transfer goes through, the midfielder will become Louis van Gaal's first signing since he took over as United manager.
