Manchester United are reportedly "now pushing" to sign Noussair Mazraoui, with the Red Devils hijacking West Ham United's switch for the Bayern Munich defender.
West Ham were seemingly closing in on a deal for the Morocco international, having come to an agreement with Bayern over a move for the right-back.
However, according to journalist Florian Plettenberg, a switch to the London Stadium is now "off", with Man United instead pushing to secure Mazraoui's signature.
On X, Plettenberg wrote: "No agreement on agent's side has been reached. Despite the agreement between the clubs (15.5 + 4) and on player's side West Ham now have left the negotiations.
"Manchester United now pushing to sign Mazraoui. Advanced talks."
Man United 'closing in' on deal for Mazraoui
West Ham had agreed to pay €15.5m (£13.1m) plus a further €4m (£3.4m) in add-ons for the defender, so it is likely that Man United are pushing to complete a deal under similar terms.
Mazraoui played under Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag at Ajax, and he could now be set for a reunion with the Dutchman in Manchester this summer.
The full-back has made 55 appearances for Bayern over the last two seasons, scoring once and providing eight assists in the process.
Last season, Mazraoui featured on 29 occasions for the Munich giants, providing four assists, but he appears to have played his final match for the club.
What does it mean for Wan-Bissaka?
Aaron Wan-Bissaka continues to be heavily linked with a move away from Man United, and if Mazraoui does arrive, then it is highly likely that the ex-Crystal Palace youngster will leave.
West Ham are also said to be interested in the Englishman, so the Hammers could potentially reignite their interest after allegedly failing in their attempts to sign Mazraoui.
Diogo Dalot is again expected to be Man United's first-choice right-back next term, but he could again be required at left-back if Luke Shaw suffers more fitness problems.
Indeed, Tyrell Malacia is still some way off being available for selection, so the Red Devils are again facing issues in that area of the field.
As a result, it would not be a shock to see Mazraoui and Dalot deployed on opposite sides of the Man United defence during the 2024-25 campaign. body check tags ::
