Mats Hummels has revealed that he "would love" to be appointed the new captain of Borussia Dortmund.
The centre-back has been strongly with a move away from Signal Iduna Park, with both Manchester United and Arsenal said to be keen on his signature.
However, the 25-year-old has given the biggest indication yet that he is keen to remain with Dortmund, having admitted that he would be honoured to inherit the armband from current skipper Sebastian Kehl.
"[The captaincy] up to the coach. I would love it but I'm accustomed to taking responsibility even without the captaincy," he told Bild.
Hummels joined Dortmund on a permanent basis from Bayern Munich in 2009.
