Manchester United are believed to be considering a bid of up to £35m for Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil in a potential January move for the German.
Ozil, who is in the final year of his current deal with Arsene Wenger's side, is yet to sign a new contract at the Emirates and The Mirror says that Mourinho has been given the go-ahead to table an offer for the 29-year-old.
The newspaper also claims that the United boss has been granted £80m to spend this month, and would be prepared to negotiate with the Gunners should they wish to cash in.
Wenger is keen to keep the German international in North London, however, despite Ozil only having months left on his deal.
Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain are also allegedly interested in his signature.
