Juventus are reportedly weighing up a summer move for Mason Greenwood, with the forward expected to leave Manchester United on a permanent basis during the upcoming market.
The Englishman, having been told that he did not have a future at Old Trafford, joined Getafe on loan last summer, and he has been in strong form for the La Liga outfit during the 2023-24 campaign, scoring eight goals and registering five assists in 28 appearances.
Greenwood, as it stands, will return to Man United this summer, and it is believed that a one-year extension in his contract has been activated to take him until June 2026.
The English club's new minority shareholder Sir Jim Ratcliffe recently opened the door for Greenwood to potentially return to the first team at Old Trafford next season.
However, it is still thought to be likely that the 22-year-old will be on the move permanently this summer, with the strongest and most realistic interest from Spain said to be arriving from Atletico Madrid.
Barcelona have also been credited with an interest, but the Catalan outfit are not believed to be planning a move for the forward at this moment in time.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Juventus have placed Greenwood on their shortlist, as the Old Lady firm up their plans for this summer's transfer window.
The report claims that the Turin giants are planning to sign four or five new players in the upcoming market to prepare for their potential return to the Champions League, with the club currently third in the Serie A table, seven points ahead of fifth-placed Roma.
At the start of 2022, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.
Greenwood could continue his career at Juventus
The Man United academy product was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but the case against him was dropped last February, allowing him to resume his career this season.
The Red Devils are believed to have decided to bring Greenwood back into their squad for the 2023-24 campaign before changing their minds due to the reaction of the public.
In his first season back, Greenwood has six goals and five assists in 25 La Liga outings, while he also scored twice in three appearances in the Copa del Rey earlier this term.
Before his arrest, the forward was regarded as one of the best young talents in world football, and he made his only appearance for England against Iceland in 2020.
Greenwood has scored 35 goals and registered 12 assists in 129 appearances for Man United, including 22 goals and four assists in 83 outings in the Premier League. body check tags ::
