Lazio have reportedly been presented with the opportunity to sign Mason Greenwood from Manchester United before the transfer deadline.

The 21-year-old will not feature for Man United again, with the club making the decision to end his time at the club following a turbulent period.

In January 2022, following accusations from a woman, Greenwood was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, and he was then further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

The England international was also facing charges of attempted rape, engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, but there is no longer a case against him, with the charges being dropped.

As a result, Greenwood is free to resume his career, and it had initially been thought that he would return to Old Trafford, but the 20-time English champions recently confirmed that he would be leaving.

Greenwood's contract is not being terminated, though, and it has another two years left to run, meaning that a transfer fee will have to be agreed, while a loan exit is also a possibility.

Teams from Saudi Arabia are believed to have expressed an initial interest before deciding against a move for the forward due to the damage that it could cause to their reputation.

Meanwhile, there is not thought to have been any concrete offers from Turkey despite suggestions that a number of sides in the country were keen on his signature.

A recent report claimed that Greenwood had received just one offer from an unnamed Albanian club.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Lazio have now been offered the chance to sign the Englishman before the transfer deadline.

Romano claims that the Serie A outfit are yet to make a final decision when it comes to a potential move.

Before his arrest, Greenwood was regarded as one of the best young talents in world football, and he has represented Man United on 129 occasions, scoring 35 goals and registering 12 assists.

The forward has 22 goals and four assists in 83 Premier League appearances, while he has also scored twice and provided three assists in 10 Champions League outings. body check tags ::
