Manchester United's chances of signing Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Braut Haaland could reportedly hit a stumbling block, if Robert Lewandowski were to leave Bayern Munich.
The Poland international, who turns 33 on Saturday, has allegedly expressed his desire to leave the Bundesliga champions, as he seeks a fresh challenge in the latter years of his career.
According to The Express, a potential exit for Lewandowski would leave Bayern searching for a replacement with Haaland believed to be their first-choice target.
Man United, along with Manchester City, Chelsea, Barcelona and Real Madrid, all have an interest in the Norwegian striker, who will have a £65m release clause that comes into effect in the summer of 2022.
Although the signing of a centre-forward is not a priority for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at present, the Red Devils head coach is looking to strengthen his forward line and Haaland is believed to be his primary target.
United currently have 34-year-old Edinson Cavani among their ranks, though the veteran striker will see his contract expire next summer, while Anthony Martial is another attacking option, who has been linked with and move away from Old Trafford.
Haaland scored a remarkable 41 goals in as many matches across all competitions for Dortmund last season, and the 21-year-old has carried on from where he left off, scoring five times in three appearances this campaign. body check tags ::
