Manchester United have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Bruno Fernandes as Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur are no longer in the running to sign the Sporting Lisbon midfielder.
The 24-year-old has been linked with a number of heavyweight clubs after an impressive campaign that saw him directly contribute to 33 goals in 33 Primeira Liga appearances.
Tottenham are rumoured to have held talks with the Portugal international's agent last week, while Liverpool have also made their interest known, but a report carried by the Daily Mail suggests that both teams have now distanced themselves.
United are said to have been given a clear path to negotiate a big-money move, with a bid of more than £70m likely being required.
Fernandes also helped Portugal to UEFA Nations League glory earlier this month as he started both the semi-final and final.
