Liverpool are reportedly in discussions with Celta Vigo over a potential move for Stefan Bajcetic.
The 16-year-old, who currently turns out for Celta's B youth team, has recently been linked with a move to Manchester United.
A recent report claimed that the Red Devils were holding talks with the defender's representatives in the hope that a deal could be agreed ahead of the January transfer window.
However, according to the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool are also firmly in the race for Bajcetic, who has impressed scouts from the Premier League champions with his performances at youth level.
Celta would be due a compensation fee should the youngster, who is the son of former Serbian professional footballer Srdan Bajcetic, move on.
Liverpool will also allegedly face competition from United for Schalke 04 defender Ozan Kabak.
