Southampton have reportedly identified Manchester United defender Luke Shaw as a possible target for the January transfer window.
Shaw left St Mary's for Old Trafford in 2014, but a broken leg and falling out of favour under Jose Mourinho has restricted the 22-year-old to just 49 appearances in all competitions.
According to The Mirror, the potential sale of Ryan Bertrand to Manchester City could lead to a reunion between the Saints and Shaw at the start of 2018.
Bertrand still has three-and-half years remaining on his contract, but it has been claimed that Southampton may be prepared to sell should they receive an acceptable offer.
Any deal would pave the way for Shaw to return to the south coast, where he made 67 appearances in all competitions before United paid £27m for his signature.
The England international has only featured in the EFL Cup this season.
