Real Madrid have reportedly moved ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign versatile Porto defender Eder Militao.
The European champions are planning to overhaul their squad ahead of next season following a disappointing first campaign without Zinedine Zidane at the helm.
Militao is believed to be one of Madrid's top targets, but United were considered to be the favourites to land him in a £45m deal from Porto.
According to the Daily Mail, however, Los Blancos may have already reached an agreement with Porto to sign the 21-year-old in the summer.
Militao, comfortable playing at centre-back, right-back or in defensive midfield, has also been touted as a target for Manchester City, Chelsea, Everton and Liverpool.
The player's agent recently ruled out a January switch.
