The agents of Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia are reportedly 'in direct contact' with Manchester United, as the Red Devils look to secure the signature of the Netherlands international.
Malacia was thought to be closing in on a switch to Lyon, only for the 20-time English champions to make their move before the defender agreed to join the Ligue 1 outfit.
Feyenoord director Frank Arnesen said on Tuesday that the Dutch club had reached an agreement with Man United for the transfer of the full-back.
"The agreement is there. We are now waiting for Tyrell. If he says yes, then a transfer to Manchester United is imminent," Arnesen told 1908.nl.
Feyenoord will allegedly receive €15m (£12.9m) plus €2m (£1.7m) in add-ons in the Netherlands international should the move to Old Trafford go through as expected.
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, the agents of Malacia and Man United are in 'direct contact' on Wednesday to discuss personal terms.
Romano claims that the Red Devils are confident that they will be able to complete the deal for the 22-year-old 'soon', with the defender keen on a switch to Old Trafford.
Malacia was in strong form for his Dutch club during the 2021-22 campaign, making 50 appearances in all competitions, contributing one goal and five assists in the process.
The left-back scored once and provided four assists in 32 league appearances, while he featured on 12 occasions in the Conference League, with Feyenoord losing 1-0 to Roma in the final.
Malacia's expected arrival at Man United is likely to put Alex Telles's future in doubt, with the Brazilian finding it difficult to show his best form for the club during the 2021-22 campaign.
Luke Shaw missed the end of last season following a minor leg operation, but the England international was back in pre-season training on Monday and is set to remain at Old Trafford this summer.
Ten Hag is unlikely to have three first-team left-backs in his squad, which could lead to Telles seeking pastures new before the transfer window slams shut.
Man United will fly out to Thailand on July 8 on their pre-season tour, while they will also travel to Australia before returning to Europe to take on Atletico Madrid and Rayo Vallecano.
The 20-time English champions will open their 2022-23 Premier League campaign against Brighton & Hove Albion on August 7 before making the trip to Brentford one week later.
The club are also said to be closing in on the capture of Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona, with the midfielder and Malacia potentially arriving in time for the pre-season tour. body check tags ::
