Manchester City are the latest club to have joined the race to sign Porto winger Luis Diaz, according to a report.

The 24-year-old has emerged as one of the most sought-after attackers in Europe, having starred for the Portuguese outfit this season with 13 goals and three assists to his name in 22 appearances across all competitions.

According to Calciomercato, via Fichajes, the Citizens are prepared to battle with rivals Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United for Diaz's signature next summer.

The report adds that Pep Guardiola is preparing to morph his squad in the upcoming transfer windows to ensure that they remain at the summit of English and European football.

Guardiola is believed to have identified the Colombia international as a potential replacement for 30-year-old Riyad Mahrez, should he leave the Etihad Stadium in the near future.

Diaz, who has also been linked with Chelsea, still has just over two-and-a-half years remaining on his contract at the Estadio do Dragao and is valued by Porto at around £42m. body check tags ::
