Manchester City, Liverpool to battle Manchester United for Raphael Varane?

Manchester City and Liverpool could rival Manchester United for Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane this summer, according to a report.

Manchester City and Liverpool could reportedly battle Manchester United for the signature of Real Madrid centre-back Raphael Varane during this summer's transfer window.

The France international remains a key figure for Los Blancos but his current deal is due to expire next June, and it seems likely that he will be on the move in the upcoming market.

Man United have been strongly linked with the World Cup winner, who could potentially be available for a fee in the region of £60m ahead of next season.

However, according to Sport, there is also interest from Man City and Liverpool, with Varane hoping to move to the Premier League in the coming weeks.

The 28-year-old has won three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and four Champions League crowns with Madrid since making the move from Lens in 2011.

The Frenchman scored twice in 41 appearances for Zinedine Zidane's side during the 2020-21 campaign but struggled for fitness in the latter stages of the season due to a muscular problem. body check tags ::
