Manchester United's director of football negotiations has reportedly travelled to Italy in order to finalise a deal with Fiorentina for Sofyan Amrabat.
The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away from Florence for the majority of the calendar year since his performances for Morocco at the World Cup in Qatar in 2022.
Amrabat helped his nation reach the semi-finals on football's biggest stage, before losing out on a place in the showpiece match to France in the last-four stage.
The midfielder also had an interesting campaign in club football, reaching the final of the Europa Conference League with Fiorentina, however Viola were defeated by West Ham United at the final hurdle.
According to the Daily Mail, Manchester United's director of football negotiations has flown to Italy on Friday as the Red Devils aim to complete the transfer of Amrabat.
The report claims that the Serie A outfit value the Moroccan at £25m to £30m - an asking price that would allow Viola to quickly improve their squad ahead of the transfer window slamming shut.
It is understood that Man United want to complete a loan deal for Amrabat in the closing stages of the summer window, with the temporary move having an obligation to be made permanent at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
The former Hellas Verona man has one year left on his current terms at the Serie A club, and Fiorentina are keen to earn a fee for one of their standout players over the past few years.
With the permanent transfer of Dean Henderson to Crystal Palace being confirmed on Thursday for £20m, the Italians are aware that United now have room to manoeuvre in terms of financial fair play.
It is believed that Vincenzo Italiano's men want a fee for Amrabat agreed now, with the player set to become a free agent next summer should a permanent switch to Old Trafford not be finalised today.
Erik ten Hag has openly expressed his desire for the arrival of another defensive-midfield option this summer, with Amrabat highlighted as the Red Devils' number-one choice.
Out-of-favour players Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay are looking for moves away from the club in the closing moments of this window, with both deemed surplus to requirements in Manchester.
United are also in the hunt for reinforcements at left-back and centre-back, with key players such as Luke Shaw and Raphael Varane set to be sidelined due to injury.
Ten Hag's men travel to North London for a second weekend running on Sunday afternoon, when they will face Mikel Arteta's Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium in the Premier League. body check tags ::
