Manchester United are reportedly considering a move for Antoine Griezmann in January due to the attacker's complicated situation at Atletico Madrid.

The 31-year-old is currently on loan at Atletico from Barcelona, and he has scored three times in seven appearances for Diego Simeone's side during the 2022-23 campaign.

Griezmann has been introduced just past the hour in all seven of his outings this term, allegedly due to a clause which exists in his deal.

The Red and Whites are said to be committed to buying him from Barcelona for around £35m next summer if he appears in at least 45 minutes of 14 of Atletico's matches this term, which has created a standoff.

According to The Athletic, Man United enquired about Griezmann over the summer and are now considering reigniting their interest when the January transfer window opens for business.

Griezmann has scored 144 goals and registered 57 assists in 300 appearances for Atletico in all competitions and is again expected to feature off the bench in the Madrid derby on Sunday night.

The France international was described as "one of the most important players" in the club's history when he scored the winner against Porto in the Champions League earlier this month.

"I love Griezmann very much," Simeone told reporters in a press conference. "Apart from the affection towards him, he is one of the most important players in the club's history.

"We will continue to improve. He is giving us a lot and he has to be strong in his head."

Griezmann scored 52 goals and registered 18 assists in 202 appearances for Real Sociedad between 2009 and 2014, while he has 35 goals and 17 assists in 102 games for Barcelona in all competitions.

Marcus Rashford has impressed as Man United's centre-forward this season, while Cristiano Ronaldo remained at the club over the summer despite a host of speculation.

Anthony Martial also enjoyed an impressive pre-season for the Red Devils, but he has only played 45 minutes of competitive football this term due to injury problems.

Ronaldo, who scored his first goal of the season against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday, could still leave Man United in January, meanwhile, which would leave the club in the market for another attacker.

Griezmann's situation has reportedly left Atletico and Barcelona in 'an increasingly uncomfortable dispute', with both clubs keen to resolve the issue in the near future.

A recent report claimed that Man United could have around £70m to spend during the January window, and the club remain determined to bring another forward to the club as part of the next phase of their rebuild. body check tags ::
