Manchester United have reportedly identified Leicester City midfielder James Maddison as a potential transfer target for the 2023 summer window.
The Red Devils enjoyed a productive period during the previous window, making several first-team additions that have subsequently improved Erik ten Hag's squad.
In terms of creative players, Christian Eriksen and Antony have both made positive impacts, particularly the latter who has netted in three successive Premier League fixtures.
However, United have still been inconsistent in the final third, the English giants requiring a last-gasp goal from Scott McTominay to see off Omonia Nicosia in the Europa League on Thursday evening.
Although Ten Hag can claim to have enough alternatives at his disposal, the Dutchman appears to be giving consideration to fresh faces being brought to Old Trafford ahead of 2023-24.
According to Todofichajes, United are contemplating whether to make a big-money approach to sign Maddison from the Foxes.
The 25-year-old is currently featuring in a struggling team with Leicester sitting at the bottom of the Premier League standings with four points from nine matches.
Nevertheless, Maddison has still contributed five goals and two assists from his eight starts, many of his strikes being efforts from outside of the penalty area.
Given the potential struggles to remain in the top flight which may await them, Leicester are unlikely to give any consideration to a sale at the midway point of the campaign.
However, Maddison has less than two years remaining on his contract and he is not expected to be open to a renewal as he considers the next move of his career.
Earlier this year, it was claimed that Newcastle United had failed with an offer in the region of £50m, and the Magpies may continue to monitor the situation.
Meanwhile, the report adds that Tottenham Hotspur are also admirers of Maddison, who still only remains an outside bet to earn a spot in Gareth Southgate's England squad for the World Cup.
In his near four-and-a-half seasons in the East Midlands, Maddison has contributed 50 goals and 34 assists from 180 appearances in all competitions. body check tags ::
