Manchester United could reportedly attempt to sign Villarreal's Pau Torres during this summer's transfer window.
The Red Devils are widely expected to bring a new centre-back to the club ahead of the 2021-22 campaign, with head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said to want a long-term partner for captain Harry Maguire.
Sevilla's Jules Kounde has been linked with a move to Manchester, but the English giants are allegedly not prepared to pay the Frenchman's £68m release clause.
According to Eurosport, Torres has emerged as an option for Solskjaer's side, with the Spain international having a £43m buy-out clause in his contract.
The 24-year-old has been the subject of a host of speculation in recent months, with Real Madrid thought to view him as a long-term replacement for Sergio Ramos.
Arsenal have also previously been credited with an interest in the defender, who has scored twice in 29 appearances for the Yellow Submarine during the 2020-21 campaign.
