Manchester United are reportedly determined to sign Germany international Timo Werner and are prepared to wait until next summer to complete a deal for the RB Leipzig forward.
The Red Devils are currently short in the final third of the field following the departures of Romelu Lukaku and Alexis Sanchez over the summer transfer window.
Anthony Martial's injury problems this season mean that the onus has fallen on Marcus Rashford, and the England international has struggled to carry the goalscoring burden at Old Trafford.
United have been linked with a move for Juventus forward Mario Mandzukic, although it has been reported that the English giants have now cooled their interest in the 2018 World Cup finalist.
According to The Express, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to secure a January deal for Werner, but the Norwegian is prepared to wait until next summer to sign the 23-year-old.
Werner, who has also been linked with Liverpool, has scored 69 times in 125 appearances for Leipzig in all competitions, including eight in 11 outings during the 2019-20 campaign.
The German only recently signed a new contract at the Red Bull Arena, with the fresh deal running until the end of the 2022-23 campaign.
