Manchester United have reportedly not yet held talks with Wout Weghorst over the possibility of signing him on a permanent basis during this summer's transfer window.
The 30-year-old made the move to Old Trafford on loan from Burnley in January, and he has been a regular for the Red Devils in the second half of the season, featuring on 25 occasions in all competitions.
Weghorst has only managed two goals and three assists for Erik ten Hag's side, though, and he is yet to register in 12 Premier League appearances for the club.
The Netherlands international has expressed a desire to join the 20-time English champions on a permanent basis during this summer's transfer window.
However, according to The Telegraph, Man United have not yet held discussions with the experienced forward over the possibility of penning a long-term deal at the club.
Weghorst has another two years left to run on his contract with Burnley, who have been promoted back to the Premier League for the 2023-24 campaign.
However, it is believed that the Clarets are again open to letting him leave, with the forward spending the first half of this season on loan at Besiktas before moving to Man United.
Weghorst moved to Burnley from Wolfsburg in January 2022, but he has only scored twice and registered three assists in 20 appearances for his parent side in all competitions.
Anthony Martial's injury problems allowed Weghorst to start 19 consecutive matches for the Red Devils following his arrival at the club during the winter window.
However, the Dutchman has been on the bench in recent weeks, with Martial returning to fitness, and Marcus Rashford also being used through the middle.
Man United are in the market for a big-money centre-forward this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane, Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez and Napoli's Victor Osimhen linked with moves to Old Trafford.
Martial could depart on a permanent basis, though, and there have been suggestions that Weghorst could be signed as a back-up forward to a big-money number nine.
The experienced striker is said to have interest from other Premier League clubs, while Besiktas are believed to be keen to re-sign him during the summer market. body check tags ::
