Manchester United are reportedly prepared to make a bid for West Ham United's Declan Rice which would involve a player moving in the opposite direction to the London Stadium.
The 24-year-old has been the centre of intense transfer speculation since the domestic season ended, with the Hammers' player of the season appearing set for a move away from East London.
It is believed that on Tuesday West Ham rejected Arsenal's second bid for the midfielder worth £75m plus £15m in add-ons spread over five years - a decision which is set to bring other interested parties into play.
According to The Telegraph, Manchester United are considering offering West Ham a deal for Rice which would see either Harry Maguire or Scott McTominay join up with David Moyes's men.
Scotland international McTominay is up for sale at Old Trafford and Moyes is understood to be a huge admirer of the defensive midfielder, whilst West Ham are also said to be keen on former Leicester City man Maguire as he looks to earn regular gametime again.
The report adds that the centre-back's wage expectations could be a stumbling block in any potential move to London, and it still remains to be seen whether McTominay wants to depart Manchester this summer.
Manchester City are also believed to be considering a move for Rice, however the Citizens have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea over the transfer of Mateo Kovacic, meaning they could now be less likely to pursue the England international. body check tags ::
