Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries to Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window.

The 26-year-old was an important player for Inter during the 2021-22 campaign, contributing five goals and seven assists in 45 appearances in all competitions.

The Netherlands international arrived at San Siro from PSV Eindhoven last summer, penning a four-year contract with the club, but the defender's future is currently being called into question, as the Milan giants are attempting to reduce their high wage bill.

According to the Daily Mail, there is genuine interest from the Premier League in the shape of Man United, and Dumfries is open to moving to Old Trafford to link up with Erik ten Hag.

The report claims that a fee in the region of €30m (£26m) is likely to be required to sign the Dutchman during this summer's transfer window.

Dumfries, who has been capped on 34 occasions by his country, scored five goals and provided five assists in 33 Serie A appearances during the 2021-22 campaign.

Meanwhile, he also featured on seven occasions in the Champions League, proving one assist, as Inter reached the last-16 stage of the competition before losing to Liverpool.

Dumfries largely played as a right-sided wing-back for Inter last season, but he featured as a right-back for PSV and captained the Dutch outfit in his final campaign at the club.

Man United are believed to be on the lookout for a new right-sided full-back this summer, as Aaron Wan-Bissaka has allegedly been made surplus to requirements ahead of next season.

Wan-Bissaka struggled for action in the second half of last term under Red Devils interim head coach Ralf Rangnick and has reportedly been told that he is not in the plans of Ten Hag.

Diogo Dalot was Man United's first-choice right-back in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign, and the Portugal international is set to remain at Old Trafford this summer.

However, Brandon Williams could also be on his way out on a permanent basis this summer, which would leave the 20-time English champions short of cover at right-back.

Man United are also planning to bring a new central defender to the club, with Ajax's Jurrien Timber and Villarreal's Pau Torres said to be leading targets.

A deal for Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong is believed to be progressing, meanwhile, with Ten Hag allegedly convincing the Netherlands international to move to Old Trafford.

The Red Devils are also determined to sign a new forward, with Bayern Munich's Robert Lewandowski said to be a target after it was announced that Darwin Nunez is heading for Liverpool in a big-money deal. body check tags ::
