Manchester United are reportedly contemplating whether to enter the race for a former Chelsea star.

Erik ten Hag was given licence to add to his first-team squad during the summer transfer window, strengthening in defence, central midfield and in the final third.

However, that has not prevented United from putting together their worst Premier League start in history, accumulating just six points from their seven games.

On a positive note, United have kept four clean sheets - against Fulham, Southampton, Crystal Palace and Aston Villa respectively - but they boast one of the top-flight's worst attacks.

United have netted just five goals - three of which came in the same game against Southampton - and only Southampton have scored fewer times than the North-West giants.

United take interest in Pulisic

Giving that it has become clear that Champions League qualification for 2025-26 could become a struggle, United's minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe may have to take into consideration that any spending in January will take away from their summer budget.

Furthermore, the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules could come into play in the long term if another big-money deal is facilitated.

Nevertheless, according to Milan Live, INEOS are prepared to commit to a substantial financial outlay to get a deal for AC Milan winger Christian Pulisic over the line.

The United States international is no stranger to the Premier League through his time with Chelsea, the attacker also winning a Champions League trophy during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Although he will be fondly remembered in West London for contributing to that success, Pulisic is enjoying a far more productive time in Italy.

As many as 21 goals and 13 assists have been recorded from just 59 appearances in all competitions, a combined total of seven of those coming in Serie A during 2024-25.

Liverpool have already been credited as admirers of the 26-year-old fresh off the back of his strike came the Merseyside outfit in this season's Champions League.

What would United be willing to pay?

The report suggests that United are prepared to put together a proposal worth £46m to try to sign Pulisic either in January or in the summer.

With a contract in place until 2027, Milan do not need to feel forced into a sale, yet Milan have endured a poor start to the campaign.

Paulo Fonseca's side sit down in sixth position in the Serie A standings and have lost their opening two Champions League games to Liverpool and Bayer Leverkusen. body check tags ::
