Manchester United are reportedly aiming to wipe £80m off their annual wage bill this summer, with a number of unwanted players preparing to leave Old Trafford.

Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Nemanja Matic, Edinson Cavani and Juan Mata are all set to leave the Red Devils on free transfers at the end of June.

Pogba collects £275,000 a week, while Cavani picks up £250,000 every seven days, so the club will make significant savings with their departures next month.

Lingard (£110,000), Matic (£140,000) and Mata (£175,000) will also leave to further trim the wage bill, with incoming head coach Erik ten Hag preparing to make big changes at Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Star, Man United want to wipe £80m off their annual wage bill and are also planning to place a number of players on the transfer list.

Anthony Martial, who is on £250,000 a week, will allegedly be surplus to requirements upon his return from his loan spell at Sevilla.

Meanwhile, defenders Eric Bailly and Phil Jones, who are on £110,000 and £80,000 a week respectively, are also reportedly available for transfer during the summer market.

Dean Henderson, meanwhile, is also believed to be surplus to requirements, with David de Gea set to continue as the team's number one goalkeeper under Ten Hag.

Newcastle United are being strongly linked with Henderson, who is on £110,000 a week at Old Trafford, with the England international signing a new contract in August 2020.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka is also allegedly not in the plans of the new manager, and the defender's departure would wipe a further £90,000 a week off the budget.

Man United will not be in the Champions League next season, with the club instead battling West Ham United for sixth spot in the Premier League table, which would see them qualify for the 2022-23 Europa League.

However, the 20-time English champions, who travel to Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, will be active during this summer's transfer window.

At least one centre-back, a central midfielder and a forward will all move to Old Trafford in the upcoming market, while a right-sided attacker and a right-back could also arrive.

Ten Hag is set to be in the stands at Selhurst Park on Sunday, with Red Devils interim head coach Ralf Rangnick taking charge of the team for the final time before stepping aside.

Man United will post their worst ever points total in the Premier League regardless of whether they are able to overcome Patrick Vieira's side in their last game of the season. body check tags ::
