Manchester United are reportedly preparing to battle Borussia Dortmund for the signature of Birmingham City teenager Jude Bellingham during this summer's transfer window.
The Red Devils were thought to be leading the race for the 16-year-old, who has scored four times and registered three assists in 31 Championship appearances during the 2019-20 campaign.
Dortmund, though, have recently emerged as the favourites to sign the England Under-17 international.
According to The Athletic, BVB have already agreed a fee with Birmingham to sign the midfielder, but United are still hoping to conclude a deal for the youngster.
The report claims that the English club's executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward and head of corporate development Matt Judge are working to ensure that the Red Devils win the race.
Dortmund beat United to the signature of Erling Braut Haaland in January, and the Norway international has scored 12 times in nine appearances since arriving in German football.
