Manchester United retain an interest in Sevilla's Jules Kounde despite making progress in their efforts to sign Raphael Varane, according to a report.
Varane has supposedly given the Red Devils his word that he will complete a transfer to Old Trafford this summer, but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side are yet to agree a fee with Real Madrid.
In spite of their progress on the personal side of a deal for Varane, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez is thought to be driving a hard bargain, even with the defender's deal set to expire next summer.
As a result, La Colina de Nervion claims that Kounde remains on the radar of Man United, but his price tag could also present a stumbling block.
The report claims that Sevilla sporting director Monchi is demanding a hefty fee of £68m for the Frenchman, which would prove near impossible for United to fork out after agreeing to sign Jadon Sancho for £73m.
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur are also believed to be monitoring developments surrounding Kounde, who has just under three years left to run on his Sevilla deal.
