Manchester United are reportedly hopeful of coming to an agreement with Marcus Rashford over a new contract before the start of the 2023-24 campaign.

The 25-year-old has been in impressive form for the Red Devils this season, finding the back of the net on 27 occasions in 44 appearances, in addition to contributing nine assists.

Rashford only has a deal with Man United until the end of next season, though, and a number of clubs, including Paris Saint-Germain, are said to be keeping a close eye on the developments.

On Wednesday, the Daily Star reported that the England international wanted to become the highest-paid player in the Premier League in excess of £500,000 a week in order to sign a new deal at Old Trafford.

However, Rashford was quick to reject those suggestions, posting on his Twitter account: "Just before this one starts to do the rounds! It's complete nonsense.

"The club and make (sic) self have been respectful to one another, and that's how it will remain. My focus is purely on finishing as well as possible in the league and winning trophies."

According to ESPN, Man United are preparing to step up contract discussions with Rashford, who wants to stay at the club despite the recent speculation.

The report claims that the 20-time English champions are hoping to come to an agreement with the forward by the start of the 2023-24 campaign, or by the end of the year if extra time is needed for the finer details.

Rashford's contract discussions had allegedly been paused due to the ownership situation at the club, with the Glazers in discussions over a sale.

The Englishman was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford last summer due to his struggles during the 2021-22 campaign, with PSG believed to have tried to sign him before the end of the window.

However, incoming head coach Erik ten Hag blocked an exit for the attacker, and he has found his best form in a Man United shirt under the leadership of the Dutchman.

Rashford has 14 Premier League goals to his name this season and is expected to be fit for Sunday's clash with Newcastle United despite not representing England during the international break due to a knock.

Despite Rashford's form this season, Man United will enter the market for a new centre-forward this summer, with Tottenham Hotspur's Harry Kane seen as the leading target in that area of the field.

Kane is staring at another trophyless campaign for Spurs and is believed to be considering seeking an exit at the end of the season, but his North London club are expected to strongly resist selling to a domestic rival. body check tags ::
