Manchester United have reportedly made contact with Porto about signing defender Rolando.
The 29-year-old has fallen out of favour at the Portuguese club and has been sent on loan to Anderlecht for the remainder of the season.
It is thought that Rolando would be available for a low price in the summer with his contract due to expire next year.
United manager Louis van Gaal is said to be looking for a new centre-back, with Borussia Dortmund's Mats Hummels and Real Madrid stopper Raphael Varane both linked with moves to Old Trafford.
However, Van Gaal has contacted Porto regarding a deal for Rolando, according to The Express.
The Red Devils boss is reportedly attracted by the defender's availability.
Rolando, who joined Porto from Belenenses in 2008, has won 19 caps for Portugal.
