Manchester United are said to have made a bid of £22.5m for left-back Luke Shaw.
The Mirror reports that David Moyes wants the Southampton player to replace Patrice Evra, who is out of contract at the end of the season.
Moyes is apparently willing to offer Shaw first-team football, but on Tuesday SkyBET and BetVictor slashed their prices on the 18-year-old being a Chelsea player by the end of the transfer window.
However, the newspaper claims that Jose Mourinho's men have offered only £21m.
Last week it was suggested that the Saints had placed a £30m price tag on the England Under-21 international to ward off interest.
Shaw is contracted to the club until June 2018.
