Manchester United are reportedly prepared to loan Erling Braut Haaland back to Red Bull Salzburg if they can wrap up a deal for the forward in the coming weeks.
United, along with Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig, are considered to be the favourites to sign the 19-year-old during the January transfer window.
While there are conflicting reports over which team are close to securing the Norway international's signature, The Sun claims that United are confident of winning the race.
Despite United being in the market for a striker to feature during the second half of the campaign, it is suggested that Haaland would be allowed to remain at Salzburg until the summer.
The scenario is not ideal for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who is keen to make significant additions as soon as possible, with United remaining outside of the top four in the Premier League.
Nevertheless, the report hints that United are prepared to accept those terms if it means sealing a deal as soon as possible.
