Manchester United are reportedly weighing up a surprise move for Newcastle United midfielder Sean Longstaff.
The 21-year-old only made his senior debut for the Magpies in December and went on to make eight Premier League appearances before his season was cut short by injury in March.
Despite his relatively minimal top-flight experience so far, the Daily Mail reports that Manchester United have seen enough to make initial enquiries regarding a possible summer move.
The Red Devils are planning to revamp their squad this summer, and Longstaff has reportedly been earmarked as a possible replacement for the departing Ander Herrera.
Newcastle are reluctant to lose a player who has come through the ranks at the club, though, and would demand a fee of at least £20m for his signature.
However, Longstaff's future could depend on that of manager Rafael Benitez, who is set for talks with owner Mike Ashley this week to determine whether he will stay beyond the end of his current contract.
