Manchester United are reportedly still contemplating whether to hand a fresh contract to Timothy Fosu-Mensah.
After sustaining a serious knee injury on loan at Fulham last season, Fosu-Mensah has not made a single first-team appearance during the current campaign.
With less than three months remaining on his current deal, it appeared likely that the Dutchman would be allowed to leave Old Trafford on a free transfer.
However, according to The Mirror, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may still trigger a 12-month contract in the 22-year-old's contract.
Keen to remain at United for at least another year, Fosu-Mensah is said to be prepared to remain patient while Solskjaer makes a decision.
The academy graduate has made a total of 21 appearances for United, the last of which came against Crystal Palace in May 2017.
