Manchester United have reportedly backed out of negotiations for Sporting Lisbon midfielder Bruno Fernandes.
During the back end of last week, it was suggested that the completion of a deal was only a matter of time due to Fernandes agreeing personal terms with United.
However, the two clubs are yet to come close to settling on a fee, with Sporting maintaining that they will only agree to a sale at £68m.
According to The Sun, United have no intention of getting close to that figure, leading to co-chairman Joel Glazer walking away from the deal.
Unless Sporting soften towards their asking price, United are now expected to pursue other targets before the end of the January window.
Manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer remains eager to sign a creative midfielder and forward over the next eight days.
