Manchester United have reportedly agreed to match Fiorentina's asking price of £30m for Sofyan Amrabat, with the midfielder moving closer to a switch to Old Trafford.

The Morocco international's future has been the subject of much speculation in recent weeks, with a number of clubs, including Barcelona, Liverpool and Aston Villa, said to be interested in him.

However, Man United have long been seen as the favourites for the 26-year-old, and according to Sport Italia, Erik ten Hag's side have signalled a willingness to match Fiorentina's £30m asking price.

The report claims that Amrabat is now 'one step away' from making the move to Old Trafford.

The 20-time English champions have already boosted their midfield this summer with the arrival of Mason Mount to join the likes of Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes and Christian Eriksen.

Kobbie Mainoo has also made a big impression during pre-season, with the 18-year-old set to be involved for the first team during the 2023-24 campaign.

However, Fred is said to be on the verge of joining Galatasaray, while Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek are being linked with moves away from the club.

Man United could allegedly confirm a deal for Amrabat once Fred's departure has been sanctioned, with the Brazilian unlikely to represent the Red Devils again.

Amrabat was reportedly recently contacted by Liverpool but made it clear that he was only interested in moving to Old Trafford during this summer's transfer window.

According to TEAMtalk, Atletico Madrid are also showing an interest in the midfielder, but Man United remain confident when it comes to their chances of signing him.

Amrabat only has another 11 months left to run on his contract, and Fiorentina have allegedly accepted that he will be leaving during this summer's transfer window.

The midfielder played a key role in Morocco reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, which led to a host of speculation surrounding his future in January.

Barcelona are thought to have failed with a loan move for him earlier this year, with Fiorentina not prepared to sanction an exit in the middle of the campaign.

Amrabat was again a vital player for the Purples during the 2022-23 campaign, featuring on 49 occasions in all competitions, helping his side reach the final of the Europa Conference League and Coppa Italia. body check tags ::
