Manchester United are reportedly in pole position to acquire Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat before the end of the summer transfer window, with Liverpool pulling out of the race.

The Morocco international is currently training alone at his Italian club amid the speculation surrounding his future, and he has been left out of their squad for Thursday's Europa Conference League playoff first leg with Rapid Vienna.

Amrabat was an unused substitute during Fiorentina's Serie A opener against Genoa last weekend, meanwhile, with the 27-year-old pushing for an exit before the deadline.

Man United have been heavily linked with the midfielder over the last few weeks, although there is uncertainty when it comes to a deal, with the Red Devils allegedly needing to move some more players on before being able to bring him to Old Trafford.

According to the Daily Mail, Liverpool, who have been credited with an interest of late, have pulled out of the race, which has left the Red Devils in the driving seat.

The report claims that £30m would be enough to sign him, but Erik ten Hag's side need to make at least one more major sale in order to meet the rules surrounding Financial Fair Play.

Donny van de Beek, Eric Bailly and Scott McTominay are among the players currently being linked with moves away from the club.

Harry Maguire recently rejected a move to West Ham United, but there is allegedly still a chance that the centre-back could depart before the September deadline.

Jonny Evans is believed to be close to signing a one-year deal, which would provide centre-back cover for Maguire's departure and then open up the funds for Amrabat.

Man United's need for a new midfielder has been strengthened by the fact that Mason Mount is facing a spell on the sidelines with the injury that he picked up against Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

Fiorentina are believed to have set a deadline of Friday for any offers for Amrabat, as the Italian outfit want to make sure that they have enough time to bring in a replacement.

The Serie A team's director Daniele Prade recently said that no offers had been made for the Moroccan despite the speculation, with Atletico Madrid and Barcelona also believed to be among his admirers.

The midfielder played a key role in his country reaching the semi-finals of the 2022 World Cup, while he was in strong form for Fiorentina last season, making 49 appearances in all competitions, helping his side to reach the final of the Europa Conference League and Coppa Italia. body check tags ::
