Manchester United have reportedly been told that they could sign Inter Milan defender Denzel Dumfries for a fee of between €40m (£35m) and €50m (£44m) during this summer's transfer window.
The Red Devils were widely expected to sign a new right-back in January, but Aaron Wan-Bissaka's impressive performances led to the Englishman staying at Old Trafford.
Diogo Dalot's recent injury problems have allowed Wan-Bissaka to enjoy a run in the first XI, but there remains uncertainty surrounding his long-term future at the club.
Man United are said to be admirers of Dumfries, and a recent report claimed that his agent had made the trip to England to hold talks with a number of Premier League sides, including the Red Devils.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, the 20-time English champions would have to pay between €40m (£35m) and €50m (£44m) if they wanted to sign the right-back over the summer.
The 26-year-old has again been a regular for Inter during the 2022-23 campaign, scoring twice and providing three assists in 25 appearances in all competitions.
Meanwhile, in total, the Dutchman has made 70 appearances for the Italian giants since arriving from PSV Eindhoven in 2021, contributing seven goals and 10 assists in the process.
Dumfries has more than two years left to run on his contract at San Siro, but he will allegedly be available for transfer during the summer window.
The defender was in action for the Netherlands at the 2022 World Cup, scoring once and providing two assists in five matches at the competition.
Man United made three loan signings during the January market, bringing in Jack Butland from Crystal Palace and Wout Weghorst from Burnley before signing Bayern Munich's Marcel Sabitzer on deadline day.
The club are expected to spend big during the summer market, with a new centre-forward set to be targeted.
However, due to the rules and regulations, Man United will also need to make some first-team sales ahead of the 2023-24 campaign, with Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay potentially among those to depart.
Dalot has had his contract extended until June 2024, but the club are said to be in discussions with the Portugal international over a new long-term agreement due to his recent form.
Chelsea had also been credited with an interest in Dumfries, but the Blues ultimately switched their attention to Malo Gusto, with the full-back arriving on a permanent basis from Lyon. body check tags ::
