Manchester United have reportedly made an enquiry for Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante.
The Red Devils are expected to be active in the transfer market before the deadline and continue to be linked with a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.
However, according to The Mirror, the Red Devils are also eyeing a surprise swoop for Kante, having made contact with the France international's advisors to discuss a possible deal.
The report claims that the 2018 World Cup winner would have to take a 'big cut' on his £300,000-a-week wages in order to join Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side, but the deal is a possibility as the Blues are said to be open to allowing the former Leicester City midfielder to leave.
Frank Lampard's side are allegedly attempting to complete a deal for West Ham United's Declan Rice, which could see Kante depart before the transfer deadline.
Inter Milan have also been strongly linked with the two-time Premier League title winner but recently ruled themselves out of the running.
