Manchester United are reportedly preparing to reignite their interest in Norwich City's Max Aarons, as Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag plans to bring a new right-back to the club.
Diogo Dalot has started every game for Man United this season, and the Portugal international was again in impressive form for his side in Sunday's 1-0 win over West Ham United in the Premier League.
The former Porto youngster's contract at Old Trafford is due to expire next summer, but the 20-time English champions are expected to soon open talks over a new long-term deal.
Man United lack depth at right-back, though, with Aaron Wan-Bissaka seemingly not in the plans of Ten Hag moving forward.
Ten Hag, speaking after the victory over West Ham, praised Dalot's "development" but said that the club needed to have "two good full-backs" due to their volume of matches.
"I'm really happy with the development of Diogo," the Dutchman told Sky Sports News. "His defensive positioning is growing from game to game, his time, also duels, are better from game to game and in possession I think he's really good.
"He [Dalot] has the breath to go up and down [the flank] so the development is really good, but I have to mention, I think a club like Man Utd need two good full-backs because we have a lot of games to cover."
Wan-Bissaka is widely expected to leave Old Trafford next year, which will force Man United into the market for a replacement, and Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong has been linked with a switch to the club.
However, according to Football Insider, Aarons remains a target for the Red Devils, having been linked with the club consistently over the last couple of years.
The report claims that the defender could be available for a fee in the region of £15m, and he fits the profile of what Ten Hag wants in terms of full-backs.
The 22-year-old made his first-team debut for Norwich in 2018 and has now represented the club on 184 occasions in all competitions, contributing six goals and 15 assists in the process.
This season, Aarons has one goal in 19 appearances in all competitions, with 17 of his outings coming in the Championship, where his side sit in fifth position.
The defender, who will soon enter the final 18 months of his contract at Carrow Road, has also played 70 times for the Canaries in the Premier League, though, during the 2019-20 and 2021-22 campaigns.
Brandon Williams is also capable of playing as a right-back, but the Englishman has not been available for Man United this season through injury.
Meanwhile, fellow full-back Ethan Laird is currently on loan at Championship side Queens Park Rangers. body check tags ::
