Manchester United are reportedly still keeping a close eye on Leon Goretzka's situation at Bayern Munich, with the Red Devils planning to sign another midfielder this summer.
Erik ten Hag's side have already boosted their midfield with the acquisition of Mason Mount, but the futures of Fred, Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay are currently unclear.
Both Fred and Van de Beek are widely expected to move on, while there have been suggestions that McTominay will be allowed to leave for the right price, providing that another midfielder is signed.
Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat continues to be heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford, with a number of reports claiming that the Morocco international has already agreed personal terms with the club.
However, Man United were credited with an interest in Goretzka earlier this summer, and according to German journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Red Devils remain keen on his signature.
The Germany international recently said that he has "no intention" of leaving Bayern during the current market amid the speculation surrounding his future.
However, Plettenberg claims that the midfielder is now open to a departure, having been told by Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel that he will not be a starter in the coming season.
The journalist claims that the situation regarding Man United is 'one to watch', while West Ham United 'dream' of being able to convince him to move to the London Stadium.
Goretzka started his professional career at Bochum, representing the club at first-team level during the 2012-13 campaign before joining Schalke 04.
The midfielder arrived at Allianz Arena in the summer of 2018, and he has now represented the Munich giants on 179 occasions in all competitions, scoring 34 goals and registering 35 assists in the process.
Last season, Goretzka was again a regular for Bayern, making 40 appearances, scoring six goals and contributing six assists.
However, Tuchel is said to be targeting a new central midfielder this summer to complement the qualities of Joshua Kimmich and new signing Konrad Laimer.
Man United have made two new signings this summer, bringing in Mount from Chelsea and Andre Onana from Inter Milan, while Rasmus Hojlund is on the verge of arriving from Atalanta BC.
Ten Hag is also believed to be keen to bring in another centre-forward this summer, although a deal will depend on how much money can be raised through player sales. body check tags ::
